A highly reputable public sector organisation is seeking a Specialist: Software Tester (Automation) to lead quality engineering initiatives and implement best-in-class automated testing strategies. This exciting opportunity is perfect for someone who thrives on innovation precision and collaboration across multifunctional teams.
As a subject matter expert the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust software delivery by integrating automated testing into the full development lifecycle driving performance and reducing risk.
Key Duties:
- Design build and maintain automated test scripts to support continuous integration and deployment.
- Coordinate and manage defect lifecycles and quality risk mitigation.
- Develop and implement test strategies including security and performance testing.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to align testing with business goals and technical specifications.
- Analyse test outcomes to identify trends risks and areas for improvement.
- Contribute to a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensure governance compliance and documentation are maintained according to policy.
- Mentor and support peers on technical testing practices and tools.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in IT Computer Science Information Systems or Engineering.
- Alternatively a Senior Certificate (NQF 4) with 10 years relevant experience.
- 57 years experience in a testing or automation environment including at least 23 years in technical testing.
- Certified training in Technical Testing (e.g. ITSEB ISTQB).
- Strong knowledge of automated unit testing reporting risk analysis and compliance practices.
- Proven experience in building robust automation frameworks.
- Ability to manage complex test scenarios and communicate actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
