Job Description

Community Midwife Outreach/Caseload Service

Otepoti Dunedin Maternity

Salary Band $83000 - $115000 per annum Kiwisaver

  • 1 FTE Position (40 hours a week)
  • Excellent opportunity to coordinate our outreach services

Lead and collaborate with the wider senior leadership team to support and coordinate antenatal and postnatal midwifery services providing care to persons accessing the antenatal/telehealth/outreach clinics alongside postnatal care and any other service within the scope of practice and the scope of the services where they operate (i.e. immunisation LARC Anti-D and Ferrinject clinics VBAC Clinics SGA clinics etc) when needed.

About the role

  • Support the provision of midwifery services which meet the needs of whanau monitoring whanau needs clinical outcomes whanau satisfaction and clinical standards including a midwifery service of last resort when pregnant people are unable to secure an LMC.
  • Work collaboratively with the Obstetric team and LMCs including coordinating services as directed such as Ultrasound Scans MFM liaison with Paediatrics Anesthetics
  • Coordinate resources to meet identified needs encompassing staff and equipment
  • Monitor communication and documentation standards
  • Notify managers of any areas of concern e.g. practice issues service gaps
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership
  • Demonstrate an understanding of consumables within the service and assists in identifying variances
  • Manage quality and risk programmes.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

About you

  • It is essential that you are a NZ Registered Midwife and hold a current APC
  • Hold or be working towards a relevant post-graduate qualification
  • Demonstrate sound professional judgement
  • Have relevant knowledge of patient safety and resource management
  • Demonstrate clinical quality safety and best practice.
  • Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Confidence with te ao Mori tikanga and te reo Mori or a commitment to starting your journey

Salary range

This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 February 2024 30 April 2025) and falls between the step 2 ($83667 p.a prorata) and Step 8 ($115715 p.a prorata) of the Community Midwives Salary Scale.
