Job Description

Mechanical Engineers (Licensed) SmithGroup Inc. subsidiary of SmithGroup Co. Inc. 500 Griswold Street Suite 1700 Detroit MI:

The Mechanical Engineer (Licensed) will provide the full range of engineering services on small to medium sized projects or provide support to a senior engineer on large complex projects. Duties and responsibilities include: Leads and performs analysis design and documentation of small to medium heating ventilating and air conditioning systems plumbing systems fire protection systems laboratory and process piping and controls. Prepares develops and edits specifications. Refines and further develops design concepts given by others. Creates and develops planning and design concepts for more complex projects. Presents engineering design solution to client representative and/or design review committees. Supervises the development of materials for client presentations. Revises reviews and coordinates construction documents. Visits construction sites as required for observation answering contractor questions or representing the owner in preparing punch lists. Prepares construction administration field observation reports. Manages the engineering discipline in one or more small to medium-sized project(s) (including negotiating project scope and fees job production and quality fee management collection and work plan) in coordination with the project manager.

Manages the engineering discipline in a portion of a large-sized project in coordination with the project manager. Establishes and maintains project staffing requirements consistent with contractual obligations. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week. Regional travel may be required less than 5% of the work time.

Minimum requirement: a bachelors degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architectural engineering mechanical engineering or any related field of study and five years of progressive experience in any related mechanical engineering occupation working on local and national building codes and design practices designing commercial public sector industrial education and institutional projects. Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure from any U.S. jurisdiction is also required. Basic annual pay range is one hundred twenty-five thousand four hundred dollars to one hundred twenty-five thousand nine hundred dollars per year for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
