Job Description

We are recruiting for a detail oriented Payroll Specialist to join the team of a growing organization in Sacramento. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for day to day payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing in compliance with state and federal regulations benefit accrual tracking and management of employee records.


The qualified candidate will have at least three years of multi-state payroll processing experience with systems such as Paycom ADP Paylocity and a strong attention to detail.


Pay Range: $30-$35/hour DOE.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain all payroll related records and perform audits and reconciliations of payroll information.
  • Troubleshoot & resolve issues related to payroll.
  • Apply direct payroll knowledge to evaluating and processing timesheets personnel action notices 401k changes payroll deductions and other payroll related documents.
  • Calculate payroll for staff on leave and coordinate benefits with 3rd party agencies.
  • Verify HR input of pay increases and benefit elections and all other payroll changes.
  • Accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable Tax Agency garnishments and State Agency correspondence as it relates to payroll.
  • Provide professional and compassionate customer service through timely communication with employees and vendors about problems and questions surrounding payroll.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as requested and assist with preparation of necessary reports and schedules for various audits.
  • Provide backup support to other accounting staff during absences.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping confidential information.


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting HR or related field.
  • 35 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Paycom ADP or Paylocity and multi-state payroll experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems wage and hour laws and state/federal compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to solve problems meet deadlines and work independently with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication strong customer service mindset and ability to build positive workplace relationships.
