The Director of Student Involvement and Assistant Dean of Students is responsible for providing departmental leadership for Fraternity and Sorority Life Campus Activities Intramurals and First Year Experience. The Director supervises the Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Assistant Director of the First Year Experience and Student Involvement and the Coordinator of Campus Activities and with their supervisees implement educational programming community development leadership training and support for students. The Director facilitates communication and initiatives among students faculty staff administration and external constituents.
This position is directly responsible for creating a vibrant and inclusive campus community enhancing co-curricular life at DePauw through respective areas. This position is directly responsible for advising sororities fraternities and councils. The Director provides ongoing support and advising to student leaders. The Director provides leadership for a comprehensive fraternity and sorority system that includes both residential and non-residential organizations. This position is responsible for collaborating with other staff members and divisions to provide comprehensive service to students. This position is responsible for implementing orientation efforts and continually enhancing the first-year experience at DePauw. The Director also directly collaborates with National Offices external constituents Advisors and House Corporations. As Assistant Dean of Students the Director serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team and oversees hazing education prevention and investigations and is responsible for DePauws compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act. This position is responsible for supporting the mission of the University the Division of Student Affairs the goals of the department.
DePauw University is a private residential liberal arts campus and has a strong Greek tradition with a large percentage of students affiliating with a fraternity or sorority. Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Leads initiatives that enhance campus vibrancy and help all students find a sense of belonging at DePauw
- Provide leadership and vision for the fraternity and sorority community campus activities and First Year Experience programming.
- Serve as a direct resource and advocate for student members of all four Greek councils on campus.
- Direct supervision of Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Student Organizations Coordinator of Campus Activities and Assistant Director of First Year Experience.
- Serve in an on-call capacity and live on campus to ensure rapid response and accessibility for campus community needs.
- Lead hazing prevention and investigation efforts and coordinate the Universitys compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act
- Manage office budgets.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of projects related to fraternity and sorority life including but not limited to: chapter officer and leader development new member education programs intake/recruitment peer education diversity and inclusion initiatives student participation in regional/national leadership programs or conferences and extension/expansion.
- Partner with the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students to collaborate with the Greek Community Board and the Greek Strategic Initiatives Board.
- Establish working relationships with Greek Leadership such as: chapter advisors House Corporation Boards Inter/National Headquarters staff and alumni advisors.
- Oversight and implementation of the Universitys Residential Standards for privately owned facilities.
- Develop and deliver culture-building programming and interventions on topics including but not limited to hazing high risk alcohol use sexual assault and social host liability.
- Coordinate Fraternity and Sorority Life office follow-up process when addressing potential high-risk behaviors and policy violations.
- Ensure that learning outcomes established by the University are being delivered effectively to students.
- Liaison between the staff responsible for administering housing processes and chapters on managing living unit occupancy and coordinating living unit opening and closing dates.
- Foster student involvement and co-curricular leadership opportunities to students.
- Helps facilitate the orientation and transition programs for new and transfer students into the institution.
- Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at enhancing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the orientation programming.
- Assists in the supervision of student coordinators and mentor leaders.
- Closely collaborate with Student Affairs offices and departments.
- Share strategic oversight for the Division of Student Affairs as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict mediation to students share in on-call capacity serve as a liaison for student concerns and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Support campus-wide initiatives and serve on divisional and University committees as assigned.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college required; Masters degree (M.A.) or equivalent preferred.
