Role Purpose
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Copper Markets Research team. This role will be based in Mexico City joining a global team of well-established experts. As part of the Metals and Mining Research Unit the Copper Markets group is responsible for delivering comprehensive research coverage of global copper markets covering supply demand and pricing. Wood Mackenzies high-quality copper research provides value to our clients by providing a guide to the rapidly transitioning energy sector and assisting clients to make the best commercial decisions to secure their business success.
Main Responsibilities
- As part of a world-class team of industry experts you will conduct original quantitative and qualitative research on the global copper market and deliver analysis through the creation of data services proprietary data written reports public speaking and custom research engagements. This role will involve modelling the trajectory of the copper market globally and corresponding subregions in the long-term. Further you will work closely with members across the commodities energy and natural resources business globally to help determine the pace and shape of the energy transition. You will produce regular and timely deliverables about the copper market.
- Through your efforts you will strengthen your and WoodMacs profile building relationships with contacts at key companies and government bodies. You will develop a unique perspective and understanding of the copper industry. Your knowledge will be highly valued by WoodMacs clients with whom you will share your insight via industry-coppering written reports economic models and presentations.
- Your contributions will be influential from the beginning. You will be in demand and able to make a difference as we value high levels of client contact and pride ourselves in answering their questions.
About You
- You are degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (Economics Business Mining Geology Metallurgy Engineering etc.) and may have experience in the metals and mining sector. Your previous experience could include generating forecasts for copper supply demand prices and trade. You may also have experience with mines traders or other users of copper and experience with their operations.
- You also understand the big picture which enables you to analyse and form clear coherent conclusions from a variety of data and information. You find it easy to communicate complex or technical information and delivering messages that are easily understood. You thrive in a collaborative commercial and client-centric environment.
- You have a high understanding of the Microsoft Office suite of products. You may have advanced skills utilising these products or programming languages. You may have experience with relational databases.
- You are thoughtful intellectually curious creative and comfortable presenting to public audiences and interacting with small groups of executives.
- You have a proven track record of fostering strong working relationships developing networks and influencing others. The way you work is productive and driven striving to be the best in class. You often share ideas find better ways of working and make things happen.
Deliverables (INTERNAL ONLY)
- Produce analysis and written content for our global copper long- and short-term market outlooks and concentrate service
- Maintain excellent client relationships for both providing and gathering information by reaching out to subscribers giving tailored presentations
- Gain industry presence through a firm network of client relationships and conference speaking slots
- Collaborating across global teams and functions in order to build strong connections identify opportunities ensure consistency of message and grow our teams influence
- Deliver on commercial product enhancements that help us to stay ahead of competitors and grow revenue
- Ensure content quality and editorial integrity of the copper markets products
- Work closely with consulting to deliver on tailored projects as needed

- We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment but this may be subject to change in the future.
- While this is expected to be a full-time role part-time or flexible working arrangements will be considered.
- Due to the global nature of the team a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones.
