Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Elmbridge to assist with the appointment of a Senior Compliance Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 35.00 - 44.98 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Compliance Officer Planning to lead on investigating and resolving breaches of planning control within Elmbridge Borough. Working as part of the Development Management team you will handle complex enforcement cases ensure developments comply with approved plans and planning conditions and play a key role in proactive enforcement projects and public engagement. The role will require a balance of site investigations negotiation report writing and legal processes while maintaining strong communication with residents Members applicants and developers.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and resolve alleged breaches of planning control including complex cases.
  • Ensure developments are carried out in accordance with approved plans and planning conditions.
  • Work with applicants developers residents and Members to address breaches.
  • Liaise with the Team Leader/Development Manager on high-profile cases and assist with allocation of investigation requests.
  • Support and mentor other compliance officers within the team.

Experiences:

  • Significant experience in planning enforcement.
  • Experience in preparing reports notices appeal statements and attending hearings.
  • Experience of interviewing and taking statements from the public.
  • Experience in site investigations evidence collection and research into documentary records.
  • Experience of using computerised planning/enforcement systems.

Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation Government guidance case law and permitted development rights.
  • Understanding of PACE and RIPA in relation to enforcement.
  • Awareness of how the NPPF and Local Plan policies impact enforcement.
  • Full driving licence.
