Job Title: Maintenance Specialist - Carpentry/Cabinet-Making
Supervisor: Director of Support Services

Summary:Performs skilled work as a journeyman craftsman in maintaining constructing and repairing District buildings and equipment.

Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); one-year minimum of journeyman level experience as a skilled tradesman; completion of a recognized apprenticeship training period; and possession of appropriate trade licenses from the State of Oregon.
Interpersonal Skills:Ability to interact appropriately with teachers staff community members students and regulatory and governmental agencies. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
Language Skills:Ability to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English. Preference may be given to applicants fluent in English and Spanish. Ability to effectively present verbal information to students parents and other school staff in one-on-one and small-group situations. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:Define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail.
Certificates Licenses Registrations:Certificates as determined necessary by the District including valid drivers license and asbestos awareness training.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Employees may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens temperature fluctuations fumes odors and dust. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals with occasional exposure to wet or humid outdoor weather conditions. The employee may occasionally work in high precarious places around moving parts and may be exposed to machinery vibration.
