The Senior Director is a leader in the team with wide and deep knowledge about the insurance and asset management markets who can lead and add value immediately to a wide range of new opportunities including M&As and partnerships.

  • Building and strengthening our core propositions with larger scale benefits/better capabilities
  • Traditional partnerships (e.g. banks) both acquiring new ones and optimizing the relationships of existing ones
  • Extending our propositions into adjacent areas to support further participation (new products countries partnership models ecosystems)
  • Innovative areas to form partnerships (e.g. digital banks non-banks) to create value
  • Both private (e.g. M&As) and public (e.g. IPO) transactions
  • Adjusting our portfolio to increase diversity and earnings quality
  • Substantial value potential with the partnerships or M&A transactions worth multiple billions in value the success of which will have a good impact on our share price.
  • Leading significant inorganic transactions capital market transactions and shareholder investments projects
  • Developing inorganic strategy complementing the overall corporate strategy
  • Constructing the inorganic pipeline; soliciting and assessing potential targets covering both company M&As and major partnership opportunities
  • Support strategy pillar and enabler development with inorganic ideas and execution as required
  • Develop innovative ideas for constructing deals and forming partnerships to support the overall strategic agenda
  • Build lead and grow a strong team of corporate development practitioners

Job Requirements:

  • Identify and source corporate development ideas and opportunities. Highlight potential partnership and inorganic targets and coordinate an effective engagement program.
  • Lead and manage high quality transaction (M&A buy/sell partnership public or private markets) processes.
  • Lead engagement with SBGs pillar leads and LBU leaders to develop and articular our strategic growth agenda.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external advisors and networks.
  • Coordinate lead and manage advisers for Group defense activities.
  • Be part of leadership team to build/develop capability and capacity in support of Groups and Finances objectives.
  • Deep experience and track record in leading M&As and major partnership agreements and structures across a large and complex set of deal issues of strategic financial legal risk tax regulatory and political areas.
  • Wide and deep knowledge of the insurance and asset management markets profit pools business drivers.
  • Sound knowledge of the financial drivers and risks of our business including the specific issues/opportunities/challenges of our wide portfolio of countries and businesses.
  • Conduct/lead high quality analytical assessment of opportunities to advise/support GEC decision making.
  • Access to good market intelligence be plugged into the insurance and asset management deal networks including the potential pipeline motivations of our counterparties and what has worked and what has not.

Job Qualifications:

  • Deep experience and track record in managing M&As and major partnership agreements
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of our business/financial drivers
  • Sound knowledge of our key insurance and asset management markets Strong experience in managing and working with various advisers including investment bankers accounting/tax firms actuarial firms and legal firms
  • Wide set of knowledge of the deal issues and experience of leading/covering strategic/financial assessment legal regulatory tax operations/tech political areas leverage other expert help/advisers as needed
  • Experience in building and leading a high performing team will be an advantage.
