Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design KLAs Global Products Group (GPG) which is responsible for creating all of KLAs metrology and inspection products is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist software engineers application development engineers and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers technology development apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer IC and equipment manufacturers to develop qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Position: Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer (Early Career)

Location: Milpitas California USA

Key Responsibilities

  • Design robust opto-mechanical and mechanical components modules and subsystems that drive the next generation of wafer inspection tools.
  • Generate review and release comprehensive engineering drawings and documentation to ensure a seamless transition from design to production.
  • Deliver working solutions by collaborating closely with optics systems manufacturing and service engineers to ensure smooth integration and testing at both subsystem and system levels.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 3 years industrial experience.
    • Masters degree in mechanical engineering preferred; industrial experience (2 years) is a plus but not required for masters degree holders.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Required:

    • Solid foundation in mechanical design principles.
    • Ability to performfirst-order thermal and stress calculationsto support design decisionsno guesswork here!
    • Understanding of optical engineering fundamentals and their impact on opto-mechanical design (reflection refraction polarization etc.).
  • Preferred:

    • Good understanding of fabrication processes such asmilling lathing and sheet metal work.
    • Basic knowledge ofFinite Element Analysis (FEA)tools for flow thermal and structural simulations.
    • Experience in one or more of the following:optics mounting alignment precision mechanical design.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Base Pay Range: $92400.00 - $157100.00 Annually

Primary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLA
