We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Assistant Driver to join our logistics team on a full-time permanent basis in South Africa. As an Assistant Driver you will support lead truck drivers by assisting with loading unloading navigation and vehicle maintenance ensuring safe and efficient delivery of goods. This role is perfect for an enthusiastic individual looking to start a career in the transport and logistics industry.
Assist lead drivers with loading and unloading cargo ensuring proper handling and securement.
Support navigation by providing route guidance and monitoring traffic conditions.
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle checks reporting any issues to the lead driver or supervisor.
Maintain accurate delivery records logbooks and related documentation.
Ensure compliance with South African road safety regulations and company policies.
Assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure fuel or fluid levels.
Communicate effectively with drivers dispatchers and clients to ensure smooth operations.
Adhere to Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) requirements for goods transport if applicable.
Provide excellent customer service during deliveries addressing client inquiries professionally.
Support ad-hoc tasks such as inventory checks or warehouse duties as needed.
Valid South African drivers license with Code B or Code C1; Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) for Category G (goods) is preferred but not mandatory.
National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent; qualifications in logistics or transport management are a plus.
0-2 years of experience in a driving or logistics support role (e.g. delivery assistant loader or warehouse support) preferred but not required.
Clean driving record with no major traffic violations (if applicable).
Basic knowledge of South African road networks and traffic regulations.
Physical fitness to assist with loading and unloading heavy goods.
Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with drivers and clients.
Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings evenings or weekends as required.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
South African citizenship or valid work permit.
Salary Range: ZAR per month based on qualifications experience and location.
