Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Truck Driver to join our team on a full-time permanent basis in South Africa. As a Truck Driver you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to South African road safety regulations. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a passion for driving and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate trucks and articulated vehicles to transport goods across local or long-haul routes.

  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections reporting any maintenance issues promptly.

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods following planned routes and schedules.

  • Adhere to South African traffic laws safety regulations and company policies.

  • Maintain accurate logbooks delivery records and other required documentation.

  • Load and unload cargo ensuring proper handling and securement of goods.

  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers clients and warehouse staff.

  • Comply with Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) requirements for goods or hazardous materials transport if applicable.

  • Conduct basic vehicle maintenance checks (e.g. tire pressure fluid levels).

  • Uphold a professional image and provide excellent customer service during deliveries.

Qualifications

  • Valid South African drivers license with one or more of the following codes: Code C1 Code C Code EC1 or Code EC depending on the vehicle type.

  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) for Category G (goods) or Category D (dangerous goods) as required for the role.

  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics or transport management are advantageous.

  • 1-3 years of truck driving experience preferred but entry-level candidates with relevant licenses will be considered.

  • Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.

  • Strong knowledge of South African road networks traffic regulations and safety standards.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle maintenance checks.

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle long hours or overnight shifts if required.

  • South African citizenship or valid work permit.
