Description:
Through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education partnership the district will partner this year with Springboard Collaborative to close the literacy gap by closing gap between home and school. The partnership will coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by the 4th grade. The high-dosage after-school literacy program will target first-grade students who are most at risk as identified by DIBELS.
Teachers are responsible for leading a 10-week Family-Educator Learning Accelerator with students and families. The Teacher will report to their schools Program Leader and work as part of the schools team.
The program will run three times a week for one hour after school from October 20th through February 6th from 2:45 to 3:45 PM for 10 weeks. The program will run on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays when school is in session.
Working Time:
- Pre-Programming (October 6-17)
- Virtual Professional Development (October 6th - 10th) up to 6 hours
- Family Orientation / Team-Building Huddles (October 13th-17th) up to 6 hours
- During Program (October 20-February 6th)
- Beginning Assessment DIBELS Administration Scoring and Data Entry (October 20th-24th) *Assessments will take place after school during programming days and times (3 hours) 1 hour of data entry* up to 4 hours
- Weekly Student Instruction (October 27th - January 29th) *no programming during week of Thanksgiving Break Winter Break or on other school closure dates* up to 30 hours
- Weekly Instructional/Workshop Prep Time up to 12 hours
- 4 Family Workshops (November 12th November 19th December 3rd and December 10th) up to 4 hours
- Family Outreach and Make-Up Workshops up to 5 hours
- Weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) Meetings up to 6 hours
- Ending Assessment DIBELS Administration Scoring and Data Entry (February 2nd-6th) *Assessments will take place after school during programming days and times (3 hours) 1 hour of data entry*
- Learning Celebration (February 6th) *prep and celebration up to 2 hours
Qualifications
- Current assignment as an Everett Public Schools teacher or administrator (Note: Paraprofessionals may also apply to work in the program.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and proficiency in working with students in grades K-3 in the teaching of reading
- Current assignment working with students in grades K-8 in the buildings
Remuneration: $40 an hour for a maximum of 79 hours
Essential Duties:
- Attend all required pre-programming teacher PD and weekly staff Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.
- Support with administration scoring and data entry of beginning and ending assessments to students.
- Support with Family Orientation and Team-Building Huddles (pre-program 1:1 family meeting).
- Prepare for and lead student instruction.
- Prepare for and facilitate family workshops.
- Input program data into the Connect database.
- Facilitate the end-of-program celebration.
- Weekly family communication.
