Parent/Family Advocate
The Advocate acts as a source of information and referral answers individuals questions and assists in the resolution of concerns and issues. The Advocate serves as a resource to parents and as an informal neutral facilitator for problem solving assisting parents in learning how to resolve issues themselves and fostering positive working relationships between the school community and District staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1)Serve as the first phone and in-person contact for families at Central Office
2)Provide information and assistance regarding District academic and non-academic rules regulations and procedures
3)Advocate for fairness equity inclusion consistency and positive working relationships between parents teachers students administrators and community partners
4)Assist stakeholders in identifying the appropriate school or department to which they should address their issues
5)Assist families in accessing services at the Family Resource Center and the Central Office such as but limited to Special Education services English Language services transportation services translation services McKinney-Vento services
6)Direct families to other community resources such as CTI NFI as needed
7)Create and maintain a community resource guide for families
8)Create and maintain up to date school profiles for families as a resource for registration decisions
9)Prepare and distribute information about complaint and appeals processes
10) Support the development and distribution of a variety of multilingual communication tools brochures and related communications which ensure that underserved and non-English speaking families are afforded equal access and understanding of their rights and procedures when navigating the District assistance and complaint processes
11)Make parent contacts when needed through letters newsletters phone conversations emails
12)Build trust and communicate effectively with racially culturally and linguistically diverse communities
13)Deliver a high-level of customer service to district stakeholders
14)Perform related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Reports to: Family Resource Center Coordinator
Salary: $38000-$48000 (Grant Funded)
Work year: Non-Affiliated 260 work days 12-Month position
