Machinist- Manual/CNC

Partner with the best

As a Machinist youll support Rotor shop and Machine shop in Aldine/Westfield in running large CNC/Manual lathes CNC/Manual VTLs and CNC/Manual Mills holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints sketches drawings manuals specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces sequence of operations and setup requirements for the Gas turbine Steam turbine and Aero components.

As a Machinist- Manual/CNC you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting safety culture and driving a safe to start mindset
  • Aligning large rotors gas components and parts within tight tolerances for machining grinding and runout corrections
  • Programing CNC lathes VTLs and milling machines
  • Reading and interpreting documents such as OEM drawings REIs Work Instructions and Digital Routers.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD & T). Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Calculating and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed feed coolant flow depth and angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve input or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Selecting align and secure holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials on machines such as mills lathes and grinders

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrate advanced / expert skill level (indicate part turn ODs turn IDs Grinding and burnishing on; CNC mill CNC lathe and NC (figure feed rates) Manual mill Manual lathe and Manual VTL
  • Supporting Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs. Steam rotors Gas rotors Cases Gas components Aero components and Value rack repairs.
  • Have ability to operate Manual machines as well as CNC machines
  • Experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT GE10s Fr3 Fr5 Fr6 and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus
