High-Dosage After School Literacy School Program Leader

Description:
Through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education partnership the district will partner this year with Springboard Collaborative to close the literacy gap by closing gap between home and school. The partnership will coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by the 4th grade. The high-dosage after-school literacy program will target first-grade students who are most at risk as identified by DIBELS.
The Program Leader will be responsible for leading Springboard programming at their school. The Program Leader will supervise the teaching team at their school. The Program Leader will report to the Program Director and work as part of their schools Springboard team.
Working Time:
- Pre-Programming (September 6-October 17)
- Virtual Professional Development (October 6th-October 10th) up to 6 hours
- Weekly meetings with Springboard Team (starting mid-September) up to 3.5 hours
- Student Enrollment up to 8 hours
- Family Orientation/Team Building Huddles/Program Preparation (October 13th0October 17th) up to 4 hours
- During Program (October 20-February 6th)
- Beginning Assessment DIBELS Administration Scoring and Data Entry (October 20th-24th)
- *Assessments will take place after school during programming days and times (3 hours) 1 hour of data entry* up to 4 hours
- Weekly Instructional Support Coaching Planning and Staff Management (October 27th - January
- 29th) *no programming during week of Thanksgiving Break Winter Break or on other school closure dates* up to 30 hours
- 4 Family Workshops (November 12th November 19th December 3rd and December 10th) up to 4 hours
- Family Outreach and Make-Up Workshops up to 8 hours
- Weekly Meetings with Springboard Team up to 6 hours
- Lead Weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) Meetings up to 6 hours
- Ending Assessment DIBELS Administration Scoring and Data Entry (February 2nd-6th) up to 4 hours
- Learning Celebration (February 6th) *prep and celebrate up to 2 hours
- Data Clean-Up and Program Wrap-Up up to 2 hours
Qualifications
- Current assignment as an Everett Public Schools teacher or administrator
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and proficiency in working with students in grades K-3 in the teaching of reading
- Current assignment working with students in grades K-8 in the buildings
- Experience leading other staff in after-school or summer program settings
Remuneration: $40 an hour for a maximum of 88 hours
Essential Duties:
Site Planning & Logistics
- Coordinate all pre-programming preparations including student recruitment and enrollment teacher professional development family orientation team huddles and class rostering.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of family workshops and instructional time.
- Attend all required pre-programming Professional Development sessions.
- Attend weekly 1:1 meetings and cohort meetings with the Springboard team.
Student Enrollment
- Create an enrollment plan.
- Enroll the target number of students by the beginning of programming.
Staff Management & Coaching
- Support teachers in achieving their personal and professional goals.
- Lead weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings to prepare teachers for family workshops high-quality instruction and data analysis.
- Observe instruction and Family Workshops and provide regular feedback to teachers.
Program Execution
- Cultivate a positive and achievement-driven culture centered around student reading growth family collaboration and Springboard instruction fidelity.
- Support completion of team huddles to achieve 100% completion.
- Effectively communicate Springboard details and expectations to families ensuring they feel welcomed and prepared to participate.
- Conduct outreach for family workshops follow up with families who do not attend and conduct make-up workshops as necessary.
- Maintain regular communication with school leaders assisting in planning and scheduling meetings with administrators.
- Collect qualitative data throughout programming including quotations and photos of programming in action.
- Respond to unforeseen needs and challenges.
- Plan for incentive distribution and organize the end-of-program Learning Bonus Celebration.
Data Management
- Collect and input crucial Springboard data setting high expectations for teachers to do the same.
- Review key data points such as student attendance family workshop attendance assessment data family survey data and other relevant metrics on a weekly basis.
- Participate in weekly 1:1 and cohort meetings with Springboard staff utilizing data to inform and drive effective next steps.
- Maintain complete and timely data records for all aspects of the program.
- Ensure that all students have complete beginning and ending assessment scores for all required DIBELS subtests.
