Step into Leadership where it matters most- now hiring for a Captain (Police Supervisor III) positionlocated in Wake County (Raleigh NC).
This position will serve as Police Captain reporting directly to the Deputy Chief and will perform supervisory administrative and managerial duties and responsibilities over specific functional areas of the agency. Responsible for assisting in the overall management and supervision of the agency by direct supervision of the Lieutenants with indirect supervision of the Sergeants. Positions will assume command of and responsibility for the department in the absence of the Chief of Police and/or Deputy Chief.
About the NC State Capitol Police (NCSCP):
The purpose of the North Carolina State Capitol Police is to provide police protection and security for state employees and visitors as well as state owned and leased property; to conduct crime prevention and employee safety programs; to provide investigatory services for criminal activities occurring on state government property; to provide executive protection for federal state and local government officials and other visiting dignitaries to state property; to monitor fire and intrusion alarms; and to notify appropriate resources for incidences such as fire broken water lines power failure and malfunctioning mechanical equipment during both business and non-business hours.NC State Capitol Police use the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
The Minimum Education and Experience (E&E) is REQUIRED to qualify for this position.All work history and education (including accurate dates of employment/attendance) must be documented on the application. Candidates for Captain must have a minimum of
Two (2) years of full-time law enforcement experience as a law enforcement Lieutenant or higher from a creditable agency in North Carolina
Completed twelve (12) years of credible sworn law enforcement service in North Carolina.
Advanced working knowledge in standard law enforcement equipment.
Advanced working knowledge of the laws relating to the rights of suspects.
Thorough working knowledge of investigative techniques.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diplomaAND six years of experience in law enforcement work two of which must have been as a supervisor
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications
Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission or the ability to become certified within 90 days of your hire date.
