Position Title: Locum Staff Specialist Clinical Haematology

Employment Type: Temporary for 6 months Full Time with the option to extend - Immediate start.

Hours per week: 1.0 FTE

Position Grade: Staff Specialist

About the role:

To provide clinical services in a senior clinician capacity including outpatient services and inpatient specialist expertise in the management of Clinical Haematology patients with general malignant and transplant indicated Haematological conditions under your care. Contribute to the operation and management of the SVH Stem Cell laboratory.

Key Responsibility:

  • Provision of clinical services to patients both inpatients and outpatients including participation in the on-call and consults and bone marrow reporting rosters

  • Completion of 2 face to face clinics at Griffith Base Hospital per month along with additional telehealth services to Murrumbidgee and local patients

  • Contribute to the teaching supervision and mentorship of haematology fellowsadvanced trainees and junior medical staff nursing and allied health staff

  • Participation as sub-investigator in review of clinical trials patients and completion oftrials-associated tasks as required

  • Contribute to ward rounds clinical meetings

  • Contribute to Unit Management meetings

  • Contribute to research in the department

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia.

  • Possess or be eligible for specialist registration in Clinical Haematology with the Medical Board of Australia;

  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent as per Staff Specialist NSW State Award;

  • Demonstrated knowledge skills and high standards of clinical practice in Clinical Haematology commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.

  • Experience in high-quality research (basic translational or clinical research or informatics) relevant to the development of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment.

  • Ability to build and support teams embrace change earn respect and foster loyalty;

  • Ability to provide compassionate care as evidenced by recent experience in a multidisciplinary team environment;

  • A demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar junior medical officer and/or undergraduate levels
