Senior Corporate Counsel Global Litigation

The Role:

Jabil (NYSE: JBL) is a diversified manufacturer and service provider with more than 140000 employees operating in dozens of facilities in 302024Revenue was $28.9B.

Jabil is seeking to hire an experiencedSenior Corporate Counselto be based in our global headquarters in St. Petersburg Florida. As a key member ofJabilsGlobalLitigation Legal team this vital role as Senior Corporate Counsel will report to the VP Deputy General Counsel - Chief Global Litigation Counsel and work in close collaboration with all Jabil legalfunctions globalbusiness teams and outside counsel. The Global Litigation team handles all of Jabils litigation and claims matters spanning a number of subject areas including antitrust breach of contract commercial disputes securities class actions labor and employment government and healthcare program matters. This is an in-person position at Jabils St. Petersburg Headquarters.

Primary Accountabilities:

Under the direction of the VP/DGC Global Litigation functions of this position include:

  • Primary responsibility for managing commercial and labor & employment litigation pre-litigation disputes and claims.
  • Efficiently and proactively managing matters and development of case strategy including effective strategies for resolution and regular reporting on litigation developments.
  • Supervising and managing outside counsel including engagement document retention and production discovery budgets staffing and strategy.
  • Integral direction and involvement in and responsibility for all aspects of case preparation including witness interviews discovery (extensive document productions depositions and drafting of discovery responses) motion practice trial preparation trials and appeals.
  • Thinking creatively and providing daily tactical counsel and innovative legal solutions to challenging issues facing Jabils global business units in an expedited manner.
  • Leadingand supporting internal investigations and collaborating with other functions to improve Jabils investigation processes.
  • Responsibility for counseling other law groups and Jabil employees on business disputes and other pre-litigation matters to minimize risk and ideally avoid litigation.
  • Navigating competing workflows setting appropriate priorities with internal stakeholders and driving and delivering results within agreed timelines.
  • Exercising mature and reliable judgment in making and articulating determinations regarding legal risks and benefits.
  • Developingupdating and advising on existing and proposed policies and processes in close collaboration with the legal functions and business stakeholders.
  • Proactivelyidentifying and mitigating legal risks by developing and delivering training programs which inform business leaders on relevant laws regulations lessons learned and best practices.
  • Draftingdemand letters pleadings discovery settlement agreements and other contractual agreements.
  • Collaboratingwith key internal clients to identify and drive process improvements develop templates and self-service systems and tools risk mitigation strategies and practices.
  • Responsibilityfor matters in locations within and outside of the US including across varying time zones.
  • Domestic and international travel is expected.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. and a member in good standing of a state bar.
  • 5-7 years litigation experience preferably in both law firm and in-house setting of a global industrial company with exposure to commercial and employment matters.
  • Strong knowledge of civil procedure and discovery process.
  • Fluency in business principles to credibly communicate with and influence business leaders.
  • Comfort and experience using a commercial business-oriented approach to problem solving tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in litigation and proven ability to manage and direct in-house practice across multiple jurisdictions and across the company with minimal supervision including at the most complex level.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively lead and drive change and improvement aligned to corporate priorities strategic goals risk mitigation needs and practical realities.
  • Experience in setting and managing budgets and leading outside counsel and internal partners to achieve strategic goals.
  • High level of integrity and trust and possessing a strong ethical center.
  • Superior legal writing (writing sample required) and analytical skills excellent judgment and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a changing fast-paced and energetic environment; ability to establish and meet short-and long-term deadlines.
  • A self-starter and multi-tasker able to handle many complex legal matters simultaneously.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills including the ability to influence and build relationships and interact effectively at all levels of the organization; ability to stand firm on issues when necessary.
  • Possess sound judgment self-confidence and a strong professional presence and respect for others regardless of position including desire to work as a team member with all levels of management.

Preferred:

  • Commercial litigation and trial experience at a large multinational law firm.
  • Experience with litigation arbitration and investigation matters for large companies.
  • International litigation experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in a second language such as Spanish or Mandarin is a plus.
