Job Description

Assembles minor products or components with a small number of details within routine and highly repetitive assembly operations. Typically works at a workbench or on a conveyer line. Common tasks include checking sorting packaging labeling pasting sniping tying or trimming either manually or by machine. Performs basic equipment adjustments routine maintenance and cleaning. May perform miscellaneous jobs such as moving assemblies/machines or cleaning floors. Typically has 0-2 years of experience and works under close supervision. Typical job titles include: General Labor Machine Operator Maker/Packer Assembler and Line Operator.We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operator to join our dynamic team in the Plastics department in our Seymour power cable manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will plan the operation of set up and operate
the machine to apply a plastic layer/jacket to wire and cable and maintain high-quality standards in the production of
power cables.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Review documentation/work orders
- Set up work process/machinery
- Operate monitor and adjust extrusion machinery
- Set up and operate process aids
- Monitor quality and perform quality checks
- Clean out the machine and associated components clean tooling
- Perform cable splices as required during pay off reel change
- Operate fork truck powered moving equipment and change propane cylinders
- Operate wire scrapper
- Generate labels apply to product and document in the ERP database
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Report any hazards or incidents to the supervisor promptly.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machinery or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferably in cable or wire manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with production line management and quality assurance standards.
- Competence in basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
- Effective communication skills for reporting and team coordination.
