Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Engineer Specialist to support our Enterprise End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management Initiative. Over time the enterprise software catalog has grown to include redundant legacy and unsupported applications that increase operational risk and complexity. This role will focus on identifying assessing and retiring software titles as well as packaging deploying and maintaining supported applications. The engineer will collaborate across security compliance and engineering teams to ensure streamlined lifecycle management standardization and compliance with organizational and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support full lifecycle EOL software management initiatives.
Conduct enterprise-wide software discovery and usage analysis to identify unsupported redundant or vulnerable applications.
Collaborate with project managers security compliance and engineering teams to validate and execute EOL candidates.
Manage risks issues and change requests related to software lifecycle activities.
Document findings remediation strategies and technical decisions.
Ensure successful decommissioning and cleanup of retired software across Active Directory MECM and MDT.
Provide technical leadership on packaging repackaging and deployment best practices.
Present technical findings and recommendations to both business and technical stakeholders.
Standard Software Packaging & Deployment Responsibilities
Pre-packaging research validation and preparation.
Package creation and repackaging with validation/quality control.
MECM integration and application creation.
Validation of installs/uninstalls via MECM.
AD group creation for test and production environments.
Support UAT with customer teams and ensure successful pilot deployments.
Create user/device collections (via right-click tool or manual queries).
Deploy applications in pilot and production environments through MECM (with appropriate change tickets).
Retire/delete old versions of applications across AD MECM and MDT.
Notify stakeholders of new/retired software and ensure proper documentation and cleanup.
Required Qualifications
Strong knowledge of software lifecycle and EOL management processes.
Proficiency in PowerShell SQL WQL Power BI and software inventory tools.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).
Proven expertise in software packaging repackaging and deployment technologies.
Familiarity with Windows 10/11 macOS and VDI enterprise environments.
Experience with change management processes (initiating documenting and submitting change requests).
Advanced analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication documentation and cross-team collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of dedicated Software Packaging Engineering experience.
Experience with Splunk UberAgent and advanced reporting/monitoring tools.
Experience with InstallShield and Liquidware FlexApp.
Industry certifications in software engineering endpoint management or IT lifecycle management.
