Role: Unix /Linux Administrator

Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Administrator to manage and maintain Oracle Unix/Linux infrastructure systems Oracle RAC and enterprise-scale platforms. This role requires close collaboration with Oracle DBAs WebLogic Administrators and Application teams to ensure high availability security and performance across mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Unix/Linux administration Oracle virtualization technologies Oracle RAC clusters and hybrid cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Infrastructure Support
- Plan design install configure secure maintain and support all Linux/Unix infrastructure systems including servers storage and Oracle appliances.
- Administer and troubleshoot Oracle RAC clusters to ensure high availability failover and performance tuning.
- Manage and support Oracle Exadata and other HA/clustered server environments.
- Monitor resource utilization analyze performance and conduct OS/application tuning.
Patch Management & Security
- Develop and implement server patching strategies including security updates and OS upgrades.
- Collaborate with the Network Security team to apply strong security policies intrusion detection and vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure compliance with established Change Management policies.
Disaster Recovery & Backup Management
- Maintain and test disaster recovery configurations for Unix/Linux and Oracle RAC systems.
- Perform backup and recovery operations using Symantec NetBackup Veeam and ensure DR documentation is updated.
Automation & Operations
- Write and maintain Shell scripts for system automation and monitoring.
- Configure and monitor batch jobs and system alerts to ensure 24x7 availability.
- Provide escalation support for hardware OS and clustered database issues (Oracle RAC/ASM).
Collaboration & Support
- Provide technical assistance to DBAs and Application Administrators for RAC/database integration with OS environments.
- Partner with Oracle and other vendors to troubleshoot technical issues escalate problems and apply recommended fixes.
- Respond to Service Desk tickets and ensure timely root-cause resolution.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Maintain system documentation RAC cluster architecture diagrams runbooks and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to junior team members.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of Unix/Linux hardware and Oracle RAC assets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 6 8 years as a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator managing large-scale enterprise infrastructure.
- OS Expertise: Hands-on with Oracle Linux Solaris (LDOMs Zones) ZFS file systems and hybrid cloud platforms (AWS Azure).
- Oracle RAC: Strong experience in installing configuring administering and troubleshooting Oracle RAC clusters ASM (Automatic Storage Management) and OCFS (Oracle Cluster File System).
Oracle Infrastructure:
- Experience supporting Oracle Exadata and clustered environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle Application Server WebLogic and Oracle RDBMS on Linux/Unix.
- Virtualization & Storage: Experience with LDOMs Zones/Containers Oracle SAN VMware/KVM.
- Networking: Proficient in TCP/IP SMTP SNMP SSL SFTP HTTP NIS DNS NFS LDAP SSH Sendmail.
- Backup & Recovery: Hands-on with Symantec NetBackup Veeam and DR planning.
- Scripting: Strong skills in Shell scripting (bash ksh sh) for automation.
Soft Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting problem-solving and customer service mindset.
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
- Effective communication with stakeholders across all levels.
- Preferred: Experience with observability tools (Splunk AppDynamics PagerDuty Turbonomic) and container platforms (Kubernetes OpenShift).
