Are you an experienced optometrist passionate about clinical research and ophthalmic innovation Do you want to contribute to the development of cutting-edge medical devices while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment We are seeking a Clinical Research Optometrist to join our Clinical Affairs team where youll play a pivotal role in designing and conducting clinical studies performing advanced diagnostic testing and supporting the development and validation of new technologies in eye care.
What Youll Do
- Lead or support the design execution and monitoring of clinical studies for product validation regulatory submissions and commercialization.
- Serve as Principal or Sub-Investigator ensuring adherence to GCP FDA ISO IRB and MHRA standards.
- Present clinical findings to internal teams sponsors and the scientific community; contribute to publications and conferences.
- Maintain detailed and compliant research documentation and reports.
- Perform comprehensive eye exams and advanced imaging (OCT fundus photography biometry visual fields).
- Recruit screen and monitor study participants to ensure safety and protocol compliance.
- Document clinical findings accurately and on time.
- Work with R&D Regulatory Affairs Biostatistics and Product teams to provide clinical insights.
- Train internal teams clinical staff and investigators on devices and protocol execution.
- Contribute to the development of protocols SOPs white papers and training resources.
- Oversee daily operations at the clinical research site including staffing scheduling procurement and readiness.
- Support budgeting resource allocation and vendor/sponsor contract execution.
- Help identify funding opportunities and support grant applications.
Qualifications :
What You Bring
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution.
- Active UK license (or eligibility); additional experience in California licensure is a plus.
- 3 years of experience in optometry with a strong blend of clinical and research roles.
- Prior experience as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator in clinical trials.
- Advanced knowledge of diagnostic equipment and ophthalmic imaging modalities.
- Deep understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and international regulatory standards.
- Strong project management problem-solving and collaborative skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% within the UK.
