Reporting to the Director Academic Operations and receiving work direction from the Registration Services Manager the Academic Resource Advisor is a member of the front-line academic advising team and is responsible for providing in-person telephone and email support to current and former students parents departmental administrators and faculty members and staff in various administrative offices at the University. The front-line academic advising teams provides accurate and up-to-date information related to the Facultys academic regulations policies and procedures and advises students on the Facultys academic advising academic appeal academic consideration letter of permission and registration processes. This position acts as a first point of contact and answers redirects or escalates questions from faculty staff parents and/or students. This position provides administrative support including scheduling meeting coordination preparing agendas minutes data entry filing reception mail distribution printing and distributing materials updating directories and/or maintaining office supplies. This position generates a variety of program documents including reports agendas meeting minutes letters of permissions and/or correspondence. This position also assists with planning program events.
This position acts as a resource for student support within their appropriate program. This position provides various program guidance and refers students to appropriate agencies for support. This position also prepares and distributes external communications including newsletters website updates and monitoring and/or engaging on social media accounts and attends recruitment events.
What you will do
Acts as a resource for student support within their appropriate program including program planning course selection degree requirements eligibility to graduate academic appeals and academic consideration.
Provides guidance and refers students to appropriate agencies for support.
Prepares and distributes external communications including newsletters website updates and monitoring and/or engaging on social media accounts.
Attends recruitment events.
Assists with the annual registration process.
Responds to transfer student inquiries.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
o Experience in client and/or customer experience functions considered an asset.
o Experience in writing interviewing reviewing editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g. social media policy manuals newsletters handbooks legal documents forms/templates blogs training/reference materials technical documents webinars etc.).
o Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
o Experience with providing administrative support considered an asset (e.g. document editing proofing formatting and production data entry scheduling/coordinating meetings and/or travel arrangements receiving/relaying messages etc.).
o Experience advising students considered an asset.
o Experience working with diverse populations/equity deserving groups considered an asset.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
