The University of British Columbia and the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in Vancouver invite applications for an academic Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a Clinical Faculty appointment in the UBC Department of Surgery.

The individual we seek will provide tertiary and quaternary level Facial Plastic and Reconstructive surgical care to patients from all regions of British Columbia and the Yukon; demonstrated comfort with managing complex clinical and surgical facial plastic and reconstructive surgery presentations is therefore an asset. The candidate must have successfully completed at least a one-year fellowship approved through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery University of British Columbia is involved in undergraduate and post-graduate programs and the applicant is expected to play an integral role in both didactic and clinical/surgical teaching and further the research mandate of the Division.

On-call services will cover Providence Health Care facilities (Mount St. Josephs and St. Pauls Hospitals) and Vancouver General Hospital as well as being available for tertiary/quaternary referral services for the province with a combined frequency of approximately one week in fourteen. Payment is a fee-for-service model through the Medical Services Plan of B.C.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Show evidence of exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills;
  • Further advance the clinical and academic productivity and strategic goals of the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery;
  • Further the mandate of the Division for exceptional educational experiences for trainees including UBC medical students OHNS residents and other trainees.
  • Have a commitment and demonstrated interest in an area of research that would augment the Division such as demonstrated expertise in a specific area of the subspecialty basic science and/or regenerative medicine translational medicine artificial intelligence education public health or quality improvement.

Qualifications

Education Licensing & Experience:

  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) - Mandatory
  • Surgical Skills - Mandatory

Applicants must have certification in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for license in the Province of British Columbia. The successful applicant shall be appointed to the Department of Surgery at the University of British Columbia as a Clinical Faculty member at a level commensurate with their experience.
