About Us:

Kempsey Shire Council (KSC) is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW known for its genuine hospitality pristine beaches sub-tropical rainforests mountain ranges rock river gorges sprawling farmland and peaceful villages.

Your New Role:

The Commercial Business Department within Council plays an important role in shaping the future of the Shire through the management and operation of key commercial assets and the provision of Shire wide services such as economic development and tourism.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Department in line with the organisations values to deliver efficient effective and coherent commercial business services for its customers and the community in a financially sustainable manner and by doing so to contribute to the success and prosperity of the Shire.

The Department comprises the following functions:

  • Commercial Assets including oversight and management of Macleay Valley Coast Holiday Parks Kempsey Airport Kempsey Regional Saleyards
  • Economic Development & Tourism including management of the Slim Dusty Centre and Visitor Information Services
  • Property Services including strategic and statutory property management
  • Facilities & Operations including management of Councils owned facilities and cemeteries

This role is part of the Senior Leadership Team and the incumbent is expected to contribute openly and constructively as a member of the leadership team of Council.

About You:

You are a proactive and commercially minded leader with a strong background in managing complex operations ideally within a government or public sector context. You have a proven ability to balance commercial success with community benefit and stakeholder engagement.

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualification/s in Business or a related field
  • Significant experience in a senior leadership role overseeing commercial operations property and/ or business services.
  • Strong strategic and financial acumen with a track record of delivering sustainable business outcomes.
  • Knowledge of governance compliance and risk management frameworks within a government setting.
  • Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills.
