Position: Peer Support Worker - AOD
Location: West Heidelberg Greensborough & outreach.
Job Type: Fixed Term - Part Time
Work arrangements: Monday. Wednesday & Thursday.

Deliver person-centred care in a multi-disciplinary team across Holstep Health West Heidelberg/ Greensborough sites as well as outreach as required. Enjoy salary packaging team support & flexible work options.
YOUR NEW ROLE:
The Peer Support Worker - AOD works with our statewide and Integrated AOD Programs (including our 8 Week Recovery & Support Program (RaSP)). The Peer Support Worker draws on their lived experience to engage with people who are struggling with their substance use.
Peer support workers will work to engender hope and will build supportive and respectful relationships with people that nurture and encourage recovery-oriented thinking and behaviour. Client work will be tailored and individualised to client needs and will promote self-awareness through building shared understandings. Peer Support workers will work closely and collaboratively with the other wellbeing and support teams at Holstep Health to support people with a welcoming responsive and flexible approach. Considerable training and supervision will be provided including regular opportunities for peer support workers to come together from different streams in a community of practice. Services are delivered face-to-face via telehealth and outreach (including home visits).
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Provide warm and welcoming support for people seeking assistance from others who have a shared lived experience
Provide targeted follow up and assertive outreach to people during their recovery journey bringing a lived experience/peer understanding to the relationship
Support clients through intake and assessment processes and refer to other services as needed including supports for carers/loved ones
Work with staff across a number of programs to assertively engage with the target group using a strength based hopeful and welcoming approach
Undertake service promotion as needed
Provide a consumer perspective in planning and delivering programs
Apply a flexible client centred and holistic approach to assist participants with their individual goals.
Develop maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders from a wide range of
organisations
Ensure that client confidentiality is respected and upheld at all times
Contribute to planning monitoring and evaluation of the provision of services
Collect statistical data and prepare service reports to management as required
Deliver individual/group services consistent with the program model
Accurate and timely record keeping and data entry
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Lived experience of and recovery from harmful substance use
Experience in the provision of peer support services to people across the ages who experience substance use and associated psychosocial issues (including mental health family violence housing issues legal issues) in a collaborative and client-centred manner
Ability to work without direct supervision as part of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team
Tertiary qualifications in aod and mental health or a related health/human services field
Ability to independently manage a client caseload with excellent skills in time management organisation the use of computer software and in accurate record keeping and the timely entry of data
Skills in facilitating/co facilitating groups
Demonstrated experience and expertise i providing aod peer support
