50% Shop Monitoring and User Support
- Oversee shop spaces and users to ensure compliance with safety protocols equipment usage guidelines and material policies. Coordinate user cleanup and ensure proper return of tools during monitoring shifts and at closing.
20% Shop Housekeeping and Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe shop environment including dust control work area and equipment cleaning chemical handling and waste management and shop laundry.
20% Equipment and Studio Maintenance
- Conduct tool and equipment inventory perform light repairs and assist with ongoing studio maintenance projects.
10% Studio Opening and Closing
- Perform opening and closing procedures to ensure proper equipment setup shutdown and overall studio readiness.

This position supports the daily operations of the studio and shop spaces by ensuring a safe clean and well-maintained environment. The role involves monitoring users to promote proper equipment use and safety practices assisting with inventory and light maintenance of tools and equipment and maintaining housekeeping standards such as dust control chemical handling and waste management. Additionally the position is responsible for opening and closing procedures to ensure the studio is prepared for use and secured at the end of the day. The ideal candidate will be attentive to detail proactive in maintaining safety and cleanliness and able to provide guidance to users in a collaborative learning environment.

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are
not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
