Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a GED or High School Diploma.
  • Two (2) years of recent and verifiable custodial building cleaning floor maintenance and supervisory experience.
  • Must be forklift certified within one year of employment.
  • Must have own transportation to report to other College locations as assigned.

  • Event Setup Experience

Working Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises lead custodian and evaluates dayshift employees job performances. Performs building inspections campus visits trains new employees with DSC equipment and building cleaning standards. Maintain and oversee all custodial functions of the Residence Hall.
  • Coordinate collaborate and plan event set-ups (i.e. set-up strike and storage of required materials and equipment).
  • Assist with set-ups which include lifting bending and moving tables chairs tents coolers and floor mats up to and including 50 lbs.
  • Work a flexible work schedule for concerts plays recitals lectures special events and functions to include all set up strike and storage of required materials and equipment.
  • Leads and performs cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms drinking fountains high-touch surfaces and glass and chrome fixtures throughout College facilities. Areas include residence halls classrooms labs offices theatres and other designated spaces. Conducts floor care tasks such as mopping vacuuming carpet cleaning stripping waxing and buffing using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Maintain and safeguard all inventory of college property (i.e. equipment tools supplies etc.).
  • Support a clean and safe work environment in keeping with the college policy and procedures.
  • Drives college vehicles and operates golf carts and light trucks to retrieve/return supplies equipment tools etc.)
  • Conducts and attends weekly departmental meetings to discuss weekly plans event set-up safety training etc.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Requires walking standing stooping stretching pushing pulling reaching and lifting all the time exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
  • Be comfortable with exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
  • Be able to follow oral and/or written communications.
  • Have computer knowledge to be able to clock in/out and view other personnel related information (i.e. paycheck W-2 etc.).
