Balance At Home Wound Care Clinical Assistant Job Overview
The Wound Care Clinical Assistant will function as a traveling member of the BAH patient care team utilizing her/his clinical knowledge and experience in order to provide professional care with an emphasis on hospitality to patients.
The Clinical Assistant will report to and travel to patients homes with our Nurse Practitioner who specializes in total-body wound care services. This role would gain one on one training with our Nurse Practitioner in the advancing and growing field of wound care.
Duties include:
Preparing for patients by organizing necessary paperwork and stocking car with supplies for the day ahead.
Supply inventory.
Briefing the NP with relevant information from patients charts while enroute to each home.
Setting up a sanitary work station with wound care supplies for NP.
Ensuring proper registration paperwork insurance cards/IDs are collected upon first visit.
Communicating with patient/caregivers what they can expect during the visit.
Completing intake/updating relevant information such as pharmacy and medications in EMR.
Keeping accurate documentation of wound measurements orders and instructions given by NP during visit.
Providing hands-on assistance to NP including but not limited to:
Moving/adjusting patients position
Bandage removal
Recording wound measurements/photos
Taking temperatures
Preparing equipment for NP
Proper clean up and/or disposal of supplies & equipment
Sending documentation to Clerical Assistant as needed
Dispense and explain after-care literature and instructions to patient/caregiver at end of visit
Other duties as assigned
This position will require travel with our in-home Nurse Practitioner out of our Medina location.
General Responsibilities
Maintain professionalism at all times.
Be on time for your shift and willing to work a flexible schedule as business dictates.
Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of supplies.
Practice HIPAA and OSHA compliance at work and off-duty.
Assist in patient issue resolutions.
Document and maintain medical records as appropriate.
Document any action taken as well as verbal or written advice given to the patient or patient representative within the medical record.
Assist in filing clinical forms and documents in patient medical records.
Maintain a positive and hospitable attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment that encourages client retention and a happy staff.
Assist in all areas of our operation and training as requested by management and NP.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certified medical assistant or an acceptable equivalent
Experience:
Hands-on patient care with an emphasis on wound care
Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills.
Excellent communication/listening skills and basic computer knowledge.
Experience with EPIC EMR preferred.
Comfortable with patients with various needs and disabilities.
