What youll be doing
We are seeking an experienced and results-drivenSenior Manager / Assistant Vice President of Engineering (Hotel Operations)to support our regional hotel operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all properties operate in compliance with Shangri-La Groups engineering and safety standards. The ideal candidate will lead audits implement technical improvements support training initiatives and provide strategic guidance on mechanical electrical and life safety systems across the portfolio.
Standards & Manual Development
- Assist in the development regular updating and translation of key operational manuals including and not limited to:
- Engineering Services Manual
- Fire Life Safety Manual
- Fire Life Safety Clearance Manual
- Loss Prevention Manual
- Crisis Management Manual
- Best Practices Manual
- Computerized Maintenance & Work Order Systems
- Audit Documentation and Pre-opening Guidelines
Compliance & Implementation
- Ensure hotel teams are implementing requirements outlined in the above manuals; identify gaps and recommend improvements.
- Monitor compliance with Shangri-Las Loss Prevention Fire & Life Safety and Crisis Management standards.
- Oversee implementation of SLIM Engineering initiatives across all properties.
Energy & Maintenance Management
- Maintain and continuously improve group-wideEnergy ManagementandMaintenance Managementguidelines.
- Audit energy and maintenance programs within hotels and provide guidance to address deficiencies.
Training & Succession Planning
- Develop and execute structured training programs in coordination with SLIM-HR.
- Support succession planning across all engineering levels (Levels 1 2 & 3).
Project & Design Support
- Support the development and update of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Design Standards including briefing materials and design criteria.
- Evaluate and approve M&E designs submitted by external consultants and contractors.
- Review feasibility studies and engineering proposals for specific hotel projects.
Site Audits & Inspections
- Conduct periodic site visits and inspections during design construction and post-opening phases.
- Prepare progress reports highlighting critical issues related to M&E systems.
- Represent SLIM Engineering at project coordination meetings.
Pre-Opening & Commissioning
- Support pre-opening activities for new properties and renovation projects:
- Define engineering manning levels
- Set HEOS (Hotel Engineering Operations Standards) requirements
- Oversee Testing & Commissioning processes
- Conduct Fire Life Safety inspections and coordinate defect rectifications
- Ensure successful execution of soft and grand opening engineering tasks
Post-Opening Support
- Conduct post-opening reviews to ensure adherence to operations and maintenance standards.
- Identify and rectify project-related defects after handover.
What were looking for
- Minimum10 years experiencein engineering roles preferably within thehospitality industry.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)qualification required.
- Strong experience inelectrical systemsis highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with ISO and quality management standards (e.g. ISO 14001 OHSAS 18001 LEED Green Building).
- Proven ability to identify cost-saving opportunities particularly in bulk procurement of engineering-related materials and equipment.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational project management and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Experience working in acorporate hospitality settingis an advantage.
