Job Description
Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Co-op student to join our team. This position provides hands-on experience in preparing corporate personal and trust tax returns assisting with tax planning and working on compliance-related projects. Youll gain exposure to various tax engagements and develop foundational skills needed for a career in tax and public accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare personal corporate and trust income tax returns
- Assist with preparation of tax and government filings
- Support tax planning initiatives and research tax issues using internal and external resources
- Prepare and maintain tax working papers and documentation in compliance with firm standards
- Assist with correspondence to clients
- Ensure deadlines are met and work is completed with accuracy and attention to detail
- collaborate with senior staff on client engagements and participate in tax season activities
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws regulations and filing requirements
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor of Accounting program (3rd or 4th year preferred)
- Strong interest in pursuing a CPA designation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills especially during busy season
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit and use computers for extended periods of time
- Ability to work under pressure (especially before deadlines)
- This position starts in January and ends at the end of April
