About the role

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Wellington team in the Lawyers Complaints Service (ERS & Frontline) which handles complaints about lawyers. Professional Standards Administrators perform a key role in supporting Professional Standards Officers and providing secretarial and administration support to them and lawyers Standards Committees as well as assisting in the coordination and processing of complaints made to the LCS.

Reporting to the Wellington Team Leader this position is responsible for assisting the Law Society to meet its statutory obligations as required by the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 (the Act). As such the work is challenging varied and fast-paced and requires a high level of judgement.

The ideal applicants will have the following skills and experience as well as meeting the requirements set out in the position description:

  • Legal knowledge or experience working in a legal environment desired but not essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • IntermediateMicrosoft Office suite proficiency.
  • Intermediate Adobe Acrobat Pro proficiency.
  • Information gathering and information monitoring skills.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative but also a team player and able to develop relationships with team members.
  • Flexibility and the ability to be adaptable to new tasks new technologies and new ways of working.
