Physiotherapy takes a whole person approach to health and wellbeing. This means that the persons general lifestyle as well as medical condition is taken into account.
Physiotherapists work with people affected by injury illness or disability through movement and exercise manual therapy education and advice. They facilitate the maintenance of health for people of all ages working with patients to manage pain and prevent disease. Through their work physiotherapists facilitate recovery enabling people to remain independent for as long as possible and so to stay at work.
At the core is the patients involvement in their own therapy. This is achieved through education awareness empowerment and participation

Selection Criteria:
Selection criteria outline the qualifications skills knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
Mandatory:
1. Statutory Registration Professional Qualifications Experience etc
(a) Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered or be eligible for registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. See attached link for the current approved Physiotherapist qualifications:

AND
(ii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
AND
(iii) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual registration
(i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
AND
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
3. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
5. Role Suitability
Demonstrate a proven record of clinical /academic achievement including continuing development in this specialist field.
6. Additional Skills
Be available to work on call rota for respiratory and orthopaedic services as required by physiotherapy management and have the necessary training at undergraduate level.

Individuals who qualified before 30th September 2018 and are registered or have applied for registration under Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 must hold a Physiotherapy qualification approved by CORU in order to be eligible to apply.
