Location: Out of Harare (remote)
Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Site Manager
Direct Reports: 2 Mechanics
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanic to join our mining operations. This role requires a hands-on well-rounded mechanic with strong knowledge of heavy machinery motors pumps and other mining equipment. The successful candidate will not only carry out complex maintenance and repair work but also take responsibility for maintenance planning scheduling and supervision of a small team of mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnosis repair and maintenance on a wide range of mining and heavy machinery including motors pumps and auxiliary equipment.
- Develop and implement effective maintenance planning schedules to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Supervise mentor and oversee two mechanics ensuring quality and safety standards are consistently met.
- Conduct inspections troubleshooting and preventative maintenance across site equipment.
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with site leadership to identify and prioritize mechanical maintenance needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic in mining construction or heavy equipment industries.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy machinery motors pumps and mining-related equipment.
- Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Supervisory or leadership experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently in a remote rural environment.
- Strong problem-solving communication and team management skills.
- Trade certificate or relevant mechanical qualification preferred.
