Job Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and ensure the continuous safe and efficient operation of our abattoirs critical mechanical systems
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including conveyors chilling units hydraulic systems pneumatic tools saws and other abattoir-specific machinery.
  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Design and modify mechanical components or equipment layouts to improve production efficiency and safety.
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a food processing plant or industrial environment.
  • Abattoir experience preferred.
Key Skills
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including hydraulics pneumatics pumps motors and gearboxes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings manuals and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
