Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Distribution Quality Inspector with a lineman/powerline background and 10 15 years of industry experience. This role is instrumental in ensuring the safety compliance and reliability of distribution systems including power lines substations and related equipment. The ideal candidate will bring extensive field knowledge a strong understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and proven expertise in quality inspection safety oversight and mentoring.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Inspections: Lead inspections of power lines transformers substations and distribution assets to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Safety Oversight: Enforce safety practices conduct safety audits and initiate team training programs.
Defect Identification: Identify and document defects or non-compliance issues; recommend corrective actions with severity assessments.
Testing & Measurement: Operate advanced diagnostic and measurement tools for in-depth evaluation of distribution assets.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate inspection records (photos measurements test results) and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
Collaboration: Partner with maintenance and operations teams to schedule and prioritize corrective actions.
Regulatory Expertise: Stay up to date with NESC and utility regulations; ensure strict adherence across all activities.
Continuous Improvement: Analyze inspection data to drive process improvements and system reliability enhancements.
Mentorship: Provide training and guidance to less experienced inspectors and field staff.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors in a related field preferred).
Experience: 10 15 years in utility distribution quality inspection powerline/lineman work or related field.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in distribution systems substations and electrical equipment.
Proficiency in testing and diagnostic equipment.
Strong defect detection and reporting skills.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of industry standards and NESC regulations.
Soft Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams and regulatory bodies.
Excellent attention to detail documentation and report-writing.
Leadership and mentoring abilities.
