Supervising PIP Defense Attorney
A leading auto insurance provider with operations across New Jersey Pennsylvania and Michigan is expanding its footprint in Michigan and seeking an experienced Supervising PIP Defense Attorney. Responsibilities:
- Manage and litigate a PIP caseload from inception through trial and appeal.
- Take and defend depositions present witnesses negotiate settlements and try cases.
- Supervise and mentor a team of 10 attorneys within the PIP department.
- Oversee onboarding of staff attorneys and provide consistent coaching.
- Audit and review attorney files to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.
- Direct support staff on administrative and clerical matters.
- Work in a paperless electronic environment ensuring efficiency and precision in case handling.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience handling PIP litigation from start to finish.
- Prior supervision of attorneys (2 years) strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and take responsibility for case outcomes.
- Knowledge of Michigan discovery rules trial procedures and substantive law.
- Experience with lay and expert witness examinations.
- First-chair trial attorney experience required.
- Strong technology skills (Word Outlook Westlaw courtroom presentation tools).
- Insurance defense experience is a plus.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Active law license in Michigan member in good standing.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range: $145000 $170000 annually based on experience.
