The McCullagh lab in the Department of Biology at Oklahoma State University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on an NSF funded project on hormonal modulation of sound location processing. The project focuses on the relationship between hormones and sound location computation and will involve in vitro physiological experiments behavioral assays management of a prairie vole colony optogenetic manipulations and anatomical tracing. The postdoc will be expected to lead the data collection on project experiments develop new projects in line with their interests and the aims of the grant communicate project results through scientific publications and presentations and contribute to student mentorship. The McCullagh lab is dedicated to the professional development of all lab members and there will be opportunities to develop skills in teaching mentorship and outreach. The position can start as early as October 1 2025 but the start date can be adjusted based on the selected candidates availability.
Requirements: The candidate should have earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field by the time they are hired and should be experienced in working on large-scale research addition the candidate will have experience working with data curation analysis and scientific publication and can work collaboratively with the PI and others on the project in lab settings. Candidates with experience in any of the following are especially encouraged to apply: acoustics behavioral assays animal colony management in vitro physiology and optogenetics.
