A Brief OverviewA one-year experiential learning opportunity for recently trained Masters prepared graduate providing broad exposure to regional and rural healthcare settings including acute care hospitals long-term care facilities clinic management and health systems development. The fellow will spend a minimum of one week working in and with Averas regional hospital Administrative Councils will participate in meetings of the Board and its committees medical staff committees administrative staff and selected System committees. The fellow will be responsible for the completion of assigned projects and for rotating through System facilities.
What you will do
- Attends and participates in Administrative staff meetings and other hospital based meetings as desired invited or assigned. Establish rapport with President/CEO and other Management council members.
- Attends Medical Staff and Board of Trustees committee meetings as directed.
- Undertakes coordinates and completes selected projects according to needs of the institution and the interest of the fellow.
- Makes suggestions/recommendations to the President and CEO based on organizational observations.
- Schedules departmental rotations/meetings based on areas of interest as suggested by President or assigned.
- Assists in departmental strategic planning and budget process as directed.
- Maintains confidentiality when dealing with data related to patients physicians co-workers and any other hospital information.
- Shows evidence of acceptable approaches to problem solving. Handles unanticipated events and crisis situations in a professional manner.
- Follows hospital policies and when in doubt seek clarification before acting.
- Informs President/CEO of project progression achievements and potential problems.
Essential QualificationsThe individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others hear understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education License/Certification or Work Experience:
- Masters in Health Services Hospital Administration or Business Administration with healthcare emphasis or Public Health
- Completed an accredited program and be no more than 12 months post-graduation
