In this position you will practice in an advanced role to provide developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate health maintenance for well children episodic care for ill children and comprehensive care for children with chronic conditions. The Nurse Practitioner works under a delineation of clinical privileges and will work collaboratively with other members of the health care team. Practice under established guidelines and clinical protocols the NP assumes independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment diagnosis and initiation of treatment and procedures. Job duties are performed in a manner that is developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served. As an advanced practice provider the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for education research consultation and evaluation of clinical practice at various levels.
In this role the APP will work collaboratively with our gastroenterology physician team to help diagnose treat and support children with GI conditions to include but not limited to GERD abdominal pain constipation and gastroenteritis. After a structured orientation with hands-on support the APP will be expected to independently manage outpatient GI clinics providing comprehensive compassionate care to our young patients and their families.

Daily uses advanced practice knowledge and skills to systematically collect and evaluate health assessment data and manage patients caseload. Obtains a comprehensive health developmental and family history on patients as documented in the patients medical record.
Assess the patients physical status through the physical examination as documented in the patients medical record.
Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings as documented in the patients medical record.
Performs or recommends age-appropriate health screening procedures as documented in the patients medical record.
Provides health maintenance and health promotion for children of all ages as documented in the patients medical record.
Performs and evaluates diagnostic procedures and laboratory tests as documented in the patients medical record.
Analyzes multiple sources of data and formulates a differential diagnosis in collaboration with physicians as demonstrated in the written documentation.
Follows established delegation protocols to manage specific patient problems. Formulates a plan of care in collaboration with other health care professionals and documents the plan in the patients medical record.
Accurately evaluates patients responses to interventions and modifies the plan of care demonstrated by written documentation.
Accurately presents and documents the data impression and plan of care on all patients as demonstrated in the written documentation.
Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills and works to eliminate communication barriers.
Collaborates effectively with other members of the health care disciplines to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Utilizes effective and appropriate interviewing skills to elicit information from patients and/or family and collaborates with them in developing the care plan.
Requests consultation and/or initiates referral for specialized care as appropriate. Communicates with health care team members the comprehensive assessment impression and plan of care.
Consistently serves as an educational resource for the patient and family community and other health care professionals.
Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to pediatric nursing to clinical practice.
Demonstrates current professional managerial and/or technical knowledge and skills. Maintains knowledge base by reading professional literature attending staff development and continuing education programs annually. Participates in department and hospital committees which promote quality nursing care as assigned.
Demonstrates NP role behaviors consistent with the development of advanced nursing practice.
Participates in departmental Quality Improvement program annually.
