The Childcare Center Director is responsible for the training and oversight of the staff and volunteers assigned to the center. This position is also responsible for the general operation of the respite home and acts as its daycare center director.
- Promote a positive and supportive work environment and provide continuing support to staff and volunteers.
- Oversee staff their work methods and processes and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Provide oversight for children placed in KPC Respite Center including completion of intake paperwork.
- Assure day-to-day compliance with current state rules governing daycare policies and procedures.
- Maintain written documentation as needed and prepare necessary reports on a timely basis.
- Respond to the crisis phone line and provide emergency on-call backup services.
- Lead the Respite Center staff meetings.
- Actively participate in supervision meetings with the Program Director.
- Complete staff development/professional training requirements as specified in Colorado Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
- Attend Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) Leadership and other community meetings as appropriate.
- Responsible for staff recruitment and training staff and volunteers.
- Compile statistics for preparation of grants and other funding sources when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must qualify as center director as specified in Colorado Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
- Supervisory and organizational ability.
- Child welfare or daycare knowledge and experience.
- Written communication skills ability to edit and the ability to make presentations.
- Broad knowledge of social work practices human development and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of the legal system as it applies to child welfare.
- Skills in problem solving negotiation decision-making and mediating conflict.
- Ability to relate well to children and families of varied cultural social economic and life-style backgrounds.
- Ability to self-start and work well in a team setting. Proven team builder.
- Skill in provision of direct services to children and families.
- Computer skills to include Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Possess a valid Colorado drivers license and automobile liability insurance at the level of $100000/300000/100000 with reliable and consistently available vehicle and ability to regularly travel throughout the service area.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Masters degree (M. A.) or equivalent preferred; and four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises staff and volunteers at the KPC Respite Center.
