The Jefferson County Clerk and Recorders office is the face of public service for our diverse and vibrant county. The Elections Front Desk/Communications Temp position provides the opportunity to join a team of public servants dedicated to defending the integrity of our elections and making the democratic process even more accessible to the people of Jefferson County. The Elections Front Desk/Communications Temp will assist the elections division in handling the needs of visitors and supervising production of thousands of letters sent to voters each month.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a values-driven professional with a desire to set the bar for great election administration. The ideal candidate must be innovative voter-focused relentlessly detail-oriented and have the proven ability to move between diverse tasks with ease. The ideal candidate will have an engaging personality strong curiosity about the elections process the ability to implement and adapt to new software the confidence to run a team of workers during an election cycle and a finesse for speaking with and meeting the needs of a diverse set of community members. Spanish language skills and/or experience working with individuals from various cultures and communities is highly valued. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:
Maintaining Voter Registration Data Entering complex data into the statewide voter registration system by following strict guidelines for data entry proofing entries and avoiding errors that can be extremely impactful to voters.
Producing and Mailing Voter Correspondence Using spreadsheets and mail merge applications to download information from the statewide voter database and send state-mandated letters to voters regarding their registration status. Using specialized equipment for folding stuffing and sealing voter registration mailings.
Maintaining & Overseeing Elections Division Front Desk Performing clerical and administrative duties to support the operations of the office on a day-to-day basis keeping an organized and clean work area developing and maintaining documents for daily audits ordering supplies maintaining an office inventory and documenting deliveries.
Greeting and Providing Accurate Information to the Public -- Responding to public inquiries in person by phone email or chat by providing accurate information regarding elections security and processes and referring complex questions to management where appropriate. Processing documents involving secure voter information including certificates of voter registration confidential voter applications and voter registration forms. Working in bipartisan teams to issue and securely handle absentee ballots maintain security and chain of custody of voted ballots and election equipment and process and record small financial transactions. Welcoming various visitors to the office including vendors law enforcement election workers and election watchers. Delivering diplomatic service even to difficult customers.
Related duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE:
This position is eligible for a maximum of 130 hours per month with some remote work available. Our office operates on a four-day work week Monday-Thursday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; candidates will be expected to negotiate their working hours with their supervisor within those operating hours. During election season the schedule may adjust to ensure the needs of the office are met. Please note that this position may require work on Fridays evenings and weekends surrounding our elections.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $20.00-$25.00 USD Hour
Compensation will be determined based on education experience and skills. Additional compensation for Spanish bilingual skills is available.
BENEFITS:
This is a non-benefitted position. Workers are provided one hour of sick leave per 30 hours worked subject to state maximum accruals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: 2 years of work experience
Education: High School Diploma or GED
*Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Preferred knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in elections or office administration
Associate or bachelors degree
Experience managing databases/tracking software
MS Office Suite experience
Customer service skills
Experience with the Colorado voter registration database
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communications with the ability to articulate clearly and effectively to varying levels of customers
The ability to patiently explain processes to an audience with lower computer literacy
Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Strong organizational skills
Be dependable and have regular predictable attendance
Self-directed in your work
Ability to adapt quickly to situations and problem solve
Ability to effectively and positively lead a team
High level of integrity regarding confidentiality
