Job Summary

Job Summary:

This Respiratory Therapist position requires providing respiratory care to patients with various respiratory conditions in acute and long-term care settings. The role involves performing respiratory treatments managing ventilators and collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes. Experience in critical care and long-term care is essential.
Location: Batavia New York United States.
Responsibilities:
- Performing respiratory assessments and treatments.
- Managing mechanical ventilation (Servo-U LTV NKV330 AirVo2 V60 Float).
- Administering oxygen therapy (HFNC BiPAP CPAP).
- Performing arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling.
- Managing pulmonary hygiene techniques.
- Performing airway management procedures (intubation assist extubation suctioning).
- Troubleshooting ventilator alarms.
- Weaning patients from mechanical ventilation.
- Collecting sputum specimens.
- Providing respiratory care in acute and long-term care settings.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintaining accurate patient records.
- Providing patient and family education.

Required Skills & Certifications:
- Current Respiratory Therapist license.
- BLS certification.
- RRT certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in critical care and long-term care settings.
- Proficiency in various respiratory equipment (Servo-U LTV NKV330 AirVo2 V60 Float BiPAP CPAP HFNC).
- Experience with various respiratory treatments and procedures (ABG sampling ventilation management airway management suctioning).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with a wider range of patient diagnoses.
- Experience with a greater variety of respiratory equipment.
- Advanced certifications or training in respiratory therapy.

Special Considerations:
- Weekend coverage is required every other weekend (EOW).
- Travel from long-term care to acute care settings is required as needed.
- The unit accepts first-time travelers depending on experience level.
- Patient ratio is 1:15.
