Role Information
Beautiful Lodge situated on the foothills of the Kwazulu Natal Drankensburg range. This is a dual guest-facing couple role combining Lodge Anchor (assistant management & hosting) and Guide (game drives nature walks and horse guiding).
The couple will play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences smooth lodge operations and unique outdoor activities. Both roles require a proactive hands-on approach teamwork and passion for hospitality and guiding. Any couple who takes this role will boost their CV with unique work experience and skills gained.
Key Responsibilities
Lodge Anchor
- Act as second-in-command to the Lodge Manager stepping in during her absence.
- Host and interact with guests anticipating needs and ensuring a seamless experience.
- Supervise and coordinate lodge staff in line with Fair Trade principles.
- Organize and oversee daily guest activities such as sundowners tea stops and special outdoor dining events.
- Manage basic lodge administration and contribute to operational organisation.
- Assist with weekly shopping trips and logistics.
- Maintain high standards of hospitality service and guest satisfaction.
Guide
- Lead engaging and safe guided tours across battlefields mountains and nature trails (on foot by MTB horseback or vehicle).
- Deliver compelling storytelling around history culture and nature.
- Facilitate outdoor activities sundowners and meals.
- Contribute to conservation maintenance and fieldwork during non-guiding times.
- Ensure guest safety with first aid knowledge and professional guiding standards.

- Strong guest-facing skills warm engaging and professional.
- Team players with a hands-on approach and ability to support a small team.
- Valid driver s license and PDP non-negotiable.
- Passion for hospitality nature and guest experiences.
Lodge Anchor
- Previous lodge management/assistant management or high-end safari operations experience.
- Natural leadership and people management ability.
- Good organisational and administration skills.
- Knowledge of South African wines spirits and beverages (advantage).
Guide
- Recognised guiding qualification (Trails Guiding or Adventure Guiding an advantage).
- Valid First Aid Level 1.
- Strong outdoor experience (hiking mountain biking horse riding).
- Physically fit energetic and adaptable.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.

- Accommodation will be supplied in a newly built furnished cottage with spectacular views of the farm. North-facing one bedroom with en-suite bathroom (shower toilet basin) kitchen open plan lounge & dining verandah.

- Twice weekly cleaning service daily laundry.
- Only meals provided are those whilst entertaining or hosting guests. All other meals supplied by staff in their own cottage at their own cost.
Requirements: Nature Site Guide NQF 2 (CATHSSETA) qualification with valid registration. Valid First Aid certificate. Valid driver s license with a PDP (Professional Driving Permit). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong passion for wildlife, conservation, and environmental education. Conservation experience or qualification is beneficial but not a requirement. Must be able to speak English and Afrikaans. Professional, well-presented, and guest-focused. Young, enthusiastic, and eager to grow in the role as a field A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn from experienced conservationists Preferred Attributes: Previous guiding experience would be beneficial but this can be seen as an entry level stepping stone. Multi-lingual abilities. Good with children and teens. Must be able to adapt and change up the information provided during the daily tours to keep it interesting for the guests.
