Job Description

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026. 

AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer in the Greater Pennsylvania area to join AECOM Transportation Department in Mechanicsburg PA. AECOM is searching for candidates that can be creative and impactful on a wide range of projects. Entry-level technical new hires are eligible to participate in AECOMs Graduate Development Program (GDP) a program designed to support assimilation into the organization help with technical development planning toward licensure (or other early technical milestones) and with creating a foundation of knowledge necessary for future career success.

As an Entry-Level Structural Engineer you will work with multi-discipline project teams in developing a range of engineering solutions from initial concepts to detailed design development and through construction. This is a diverse role that will involve your contributions and insight into the effective delivery of the departments current and future portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and strengthen analytical and design skills.
  • Assist with engineering design tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Prepare designs calculations sketches diagrams schematics and final working drawings.
  • Collect organize and analyze data to support engineering decisions.
  • Utilize engineering software to solve basic technical problems.
  • Contribute to project work while adhering to established budgets and schedules.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or related disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic track with structural engineering concentration is highly desirable.
  • 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience in the execution of structural design projects is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Some production software experience including but not limited to: MicroStation AutoCAD MS Office Bluebeam is highly desirable.
  • Some structural analysis software experience including but not limited to: SAP2000 CSI Bridge and LUSAS is a plus.
  • Basic familiarity and working knowledge of relevant building codes and standards including AASHTO IBC ASCE 7 AISC 360 ACI 318 ACI 530 NDS etc.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or related field is a plus..


Additional Information :

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Hybrid work schedule is available with required on-site work at the Mechanicsburg PA office. A full-time in-office schedule is also an option.
