Job Description
Position Purpose:
Assist with the day-to-day operations of a water and wastewater treatment plant.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintaining the facility treatment units and equipment. Identify and report the need for repairs to treatment plant equipment such as pumps valves motors blowers and chemical feed equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining property in good order to include housekeeping and grounds-upkeep.
- Conducts routine testing and records test results and maintains the plant logbook with accurate and timely entries of activities.
- Assist with distribution sample collection and testing.
- Assist with industrial sample collection and monitoring.
- Utilizes computers and software as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however limited exposure to higher noise level (within OSHA standards) may occur.
Qualifications :
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Approximately 1 years industry experience.
- Strong mechanical and maintenance background.
- Basic electrical experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Good communication skills written and oral.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Ability to obtain NC Grade 2 Biological Wastewater Operator Certification or higher.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and taste or smell.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color close vision and distance vision.
