Adelphi is seeking Orientation & Mobility Specialists to provide services in a school district in Montgomery County Virginia. The Orientation & Mobility Specialist will deliver instruction and support to visually impaired students to develop safe efficient and independent travel skills in various environments.

Requirements:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Orientation & Mobility from an accredited program.
Current ACVREP certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).
Virginia does not require separate state licensure for COMS; ACVREP certification is the recognized qualification.
Experience in a school setting is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Conduct evaluations to determine students orientation and mobility needs.
Develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility programs for visually impaired students.
Teach safe travel techniques in school home and community environments.
Collaborate with teachers parents and related service providers to support student independence.
Participate in student support meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes and eligibility reports.
Maintain positive professional relationships with students parents staff and the public.
Other duties as assigned.
