Job Summary

Clinical Dietitian Inpatient Adult

Independently performs the nutrition care process including nutrition assessment diagnosis intervention monitoring and evaluation specific to age and medical status.

  1. Provide medical nutrition therapy to adult inpatients at high nutrition risk (e.g. receiving enteral or parenteral nutrition) in a fast paced and high acuity clinical setting.
  2. In collaboration with team develops an interdisciplinary nutrition plan of care for patients within a specialty population and attends rounds.
  3. Discusses plan of nutrition care with patient/and or family; electronically documents nutrition plan of care and education provided.
  4. Actively contributes to teamwork (cooperates with peers flexible w/cross coverage) and achievement of department goals; attends staff meetings. 
  5. Provides education training and expertise as a professional resource to members of the healthcare team as well as dietetic interns to advance their development in the field.
  6. Attends and/or participates in various in-service continuing education credits and external training workshops conferences and other relevant educational programs to maintain state licensure.  Utilizes and integrates evidence into practice.
  7. This position includes a weekend and on call rotation. All levels of experience welcome. Advanced certification not required.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition Dietetics or related field required.
  • Registration by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) required. Current licensure in the state of Maryland as a Dietitian/Nutritionist required.
  • Four (4) years clinical experience preferred as a Registered Dietitian at a hospital facility including completion of UMMC initial review required.
  • Prior completion of a Specialty Fellowship Program or Active Specialty Certification: CNSC CDE CSR CSP CSO IBCLC preferred. Maintenance of 30 CEUs/2 years (20 CEU in a specialty area every two years) is required.
  • Current on all mandatory classes/training Knowledge of anatomy physiology biochemistry and pharmacology as they relate to nutrition is required to make clinical decisions regarding a patients nutritional care plan.

Pay Range: $33.40-$50.13
