The Opportunity

BlueScope Building Components is looking for a Purchasing Officer to join the Operations & Supply Chain team based in Novar Gardens SA. BlueScope Building Components a division of BlueScope in Australia manufactures and markets steel building products solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght Fielders Ranbuild and Kiteleys. 

Based on-site at our busy production hub youll be right at the centre of the action supporting critical purchasing activities that directly impact our customers sites and our commercial outcomes. This opportunity suits someone who thrives on being busy is confident working to deadlines and enjoys solving problems in a dynamic day-to-day environment where no two days are the same.  

Youll be part of a committed and supportive team that values collaboration continuous learning and achieving great purchasing and procurement outcomes together. Your contribution will be felt across the business helping secure cost-effective solutions that directly impact the success of our commercial performance.  

This full-time permanent position offers a consistent 8am-4pm schedule Monday to Friday and includes free on-site parking. Youll collaborate daily with a friendly and inclusive team that encourages growth and invests in your ongoing development. 

What Will You Do 

As a customer-centric professional working within a collaborative team environment youll process and manage purchase orders for consumables materials and stock across multiple sites state-wide. Youll also: 

• track and follow up orders keeping things moving and stakeholders informed  
• review and convert requisitions and maintain accurate records and data  
• liaise daily with suppliers transport stores scheduling and internal teams 
• analyse resolve and communicate purchasing issues and supplier queries  
• monitor the quality of supplier service through vendor ratings and accounts payable 
• contribute to process improvement initiatives including supporting the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP)

As someone who takes pride in being organised and dependable you enjoy a challenge work well under pressure and can adapt to shifting priorities. Youll bring: 

• demonstrated purchasing experience in operations manufacturing or a similar fast-paced setting 
• strong attention to detail time management and a solutions-focused mindset 
• confidence using Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn new systems quickly 
• great communication skills and a strong customer service approach both internally and externally 
• experience in (or desire to grow your Purchasing skills within) the building steel or industrial sectors
